Lors d’une conférence de presse donnée lundi à Washington, Scott Bessent a annoncé la poursuite d’une nouvelle campagne américaine destinée à assécher l’économie iranienne.

Baptisée « economic outcast », cette opération ne vise pas seulement Téhéran : elle cible aussi tout pays qui garde un lien économique avec l’Iran.

Le secrétaire au Trésor des États-Unis a présenté cette offensive dans la soirée du 24 août, en restant bref sur les moyens employés et sur la suite du calendrier.

L’enjeu est donc clairement politique et économique, mais l’annonce laisse encore ouverte la question de son application concrète.

At a press conference held on Monday in Washington, Scott Bessent announced the continuation of a new American campaign intended to drain the Iranian economy.

Named “economic outcast,” this operation does not target Tehran alone: it also targets any country that maintains an economic link with Iran.
